Project Summary

Construction is underway to upgrade the last sections of expressway to a full freeway between Mission Blvd and State 60, converting 2 miles of Route 71 from a highway to a freeway. This project will add a lane in each direction, remove all intersections, and include an auxiliary lane on southbound Route 71, allowing for unhindered traffic flow between Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. The scope of work involves earthwork and grading for the additional lanes, along with concrete pavements, median barriers, retaining walls, new drainage systems, sound walls, and electrical work, with completion expected in 2025.
