Project Summary

The extension project entails the expansion of a 12.3-mile Light Rail Transit (LRT) system that will run from Azusa Pacific University Station, which is the previous endpoint of the Phase 1 extension, to a new terminus station in Montclair. The transit line will traverse through the cities of Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas, Pomona, and Montclair. The comprehensive scope of work comprises the installation of 10 miles of double light rail trackwork, 10.2 miles of new freight rail trackwork, dismantling 10 miles of existing freight track, erecting 14 new bridges, implementing Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) and Cast-in-Place (CIP) retaining walls, enhancing the storm drainage system, upgrading utility facilities, establishing six new passenger stations, deploying traction electrification systems, erecting traction power supply substations, mounting overhead contact systems, installing 22 grade crossings, and improving the adjacent roadway/traffic signal infrastructure. The project includes the construction of six stations, the development of associated parking facilities, the modification of existing bridge structures, several at-grade crossings with gate protection, and an expansion of the Phase 2A power, signaling, and communication systems.
