Project Summary

The Rail-to-Rail Active Transportation Corridor Project is an ambitious and comprehensive initiative that aims to transform an abandoned rail right-of-way into a vibrant and accessible green space for the community. The project will involve the construction of a 30–foot–wide linear park featuring a wide range of amenities and infrastructure improvements. These will include landscaping, lighting, benches, crosswalks, curb ramps, red/bike crossing signals, and medians at many intersections. The project will span a distance of 604 miles, extending from the Slauson Avenue Metro A (Blue) Line station to the Fairview Heights Stations. It will also connect to the Metro J (Silver) line bus rapid transit Slauson Station and numerous bus lines, providing an important transportation link for the community.

In addition to providing a functional space for recreational activities, the Rail-to-Rail Active Transportation corridor project will also significantly impact safety. The intersection upgrades included in the project are designed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly at locations where the corridor is known to be dangerous. Overall, The Rail-to-Rail project is a forward–thinking and innovative project that will have a lasting and positive impact on the community it serves. It is a testament to the dedication of local officials and community leaders improving the quality of life for all residents.
