Project Summary

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) proposed a new Secure Area Access Post (SAAP) to provide a fully functional, secured access point onto the Airport Operations Area (AOA) on the west side of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The project involved constructing a 1200 ft x 150 ft land footprint with equipment for access control (gates, traffic lights, signage, vehicle arrest systems, security fencing), vehicle inspection (license plate readers, under-vehicle scanners), and facilities for inspection staff, including two canopy structures, two 350 sq ft guard stations with monitoring equipment and restrooms at each end of the inspection station.
The Quality Firm provided services in quality management, document control, inspection, materials testing, geotechnical survey, geotechnical instrumentation and utility locating.
